Below are a few of the books and videos I return to time and again. The books are tagged, highlighted, dog-eared and in some cases, falling apart at the seams. I love the authors and film makers for their brilliant insights, genuine compassion and commitment to guide seekers to their own truth.
Books
In a series of three books, author Neale Donald Walsch explores answers to questions he has been seeking from God for decades. The work is channeled and written in a question and answer format. Walsch's down to earth style and blunt, probing, often humorous questions are easy for the reader to identify with. No question is off limits and the compassionate answers ring true in every response.
This is the essential go-to guide on the Law of Attraction. Esther Hicks collaborates with a non-physical assembly of spiritual teachers who call themselves by a singular name, Abraham. The book clearly explains how the Law of Attraction works through a series of questions posed by Esther's husband, Jerry, and answered by Abraham. The responses are powerful, compassionate and consistent in their message.
Dr. Emilie Cady was a homeopathic physician and teacher in the late 1800s through the mid-20th century. In a direct, matter of fact style, Dr. Cady illustrates the importance of keeping God front and center in everyday life through examples and stories. She explains basic, timeless truths which help the reader understand that by placing God first in their life, challenges of health, wealth and love can be dissolved.
During a challenging period in his career, advertising executive John Randolph Price revisited a manuscript sent to him by one of his clients. Inspired to learn more about this new thought and how it could alter lives, Price conducted a series of interviews with ordinary people living extraordinary lives. These Superbeings share their stories and offer powerful insights to those seeking enlightenment.
Illustrating real-life case histories, Gregg Braden shares his insights on how seemingly insignificant events in our lives are actually 'us' showing ourselves our truest, deepest beliefs. Braden is a master at demystifying quantum physics. The Divine Matrix is a result of more than 20 years of the author's research, as well as his personal journey to understand the great mysteries found in ancient cultures.
In his classic book, Dr. Murphy explains how habitual thinking is adopted by the subconscious mind, then expresses through daily events and relationships. He sees the subconscious mind as a darkroom where we develop the images that take form as our experience. While the conscious mind sees the event, photographs it and remembers it, the subconscious mind works backwards. It sees something before it happens, then manifests that image in the outer world.
Matsaru Emoto's stunning images of crystallized water illustrate the effect words have on the formation of water crystals. In a series of before and after photographs, Emoto painstakingly photographed droplets of water from various sources. He then pasted words on jars of water and photographed the results. Considering the body's major organs are 90% water, Emoto's message is clear: words impact our health and well being.
Another classic from one of the early New Age writers, Robert Collier explains the basic principles for manifesting change in the areas of wealth, health and relationships. His writings contain the essential 'secrets' reformulated by today's popular authors. Professionals involved in the sales and marketing industries will find his information particularly helpful.
While working as a minister, Louise Hay counseled clients on their life challenges. Through her work, she noticed a connection between specific illnesses and repetitive patterns of thought. Hay then assembled a cause and effect list, printed a booklet and went on to become one of the world's premiere authorities on holistic healing. The book is a guide on the importance of self-love in the healing process.
Videos
The 'secret' is the Law of Attraction, presented in this best selling video through a series of interviews from some of the country's leading metaphysical teachers. Segments include an introduction to the basic principles of the LOA and their relation to attaining money, love, health and peace of mind.
Based on Louise Hay's best selling book, the movie introduces viewers to the power of thought and how it impacts what we attract in our daily life. The viewer follows a young woman's journey from a place of stress and self-loathing to the rich possibilities available to her.
This highly entertaining film clearly demonstrates the link between quantum physics and consciousness through a combination of interviews, animated graphics and a narrative. Marlee Matlin stars as a photographer grappling with a divorce.
